Senior & assisted living moves

Senior Moving Services, Handled With Patience

Moving Mom or Dad into assisted living, independent living, a retirement community or your own home. We plan it around them, move only what fits, and set up the new place so it feels like home on the first night.

More than a moving job

A Lifetime of Things, One New Room

A senior move is rarely just a move. It’s a house that’s been home for decades, a smaller apartment with a floor plan to fit, a family juggling jobs and distance, and a parent who may feel anxious about all of it. The movers you choose set the tone for the day.

Our crews take their time where it matters. We walk through what’s coming and what’s staying, protect the furniture that carries the memories, and place every piece where your parent wants it in the new room. Then we make sure the bed is put together before we leave.

  • Assisted living, memory care and independent living communities across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
  • Moving in with family: into an in-law suite, a first-floor bedroom or a family member’s home.
  • Moves within a building, like a new floor or a new apartment at the same community.

How we help

From the Old House to the New Apartment

Book the whole move, or just the parts the family can’t do. Every piece below is something we already do every week.

A plan that fits the new space

Share the new floor plan or room size and we’ll talk through which furniture will fit, so nothing makes the trip only to come back.

Packing, gently

Full or partial packing with sturdy boxes and plenty of paper for china, photos and keepsakes, labeled for the right room.

Timed to move-in day

Communities often set move-in dates, elevator times or loading-door rules. Tell us, and we plan around them.

Set up before we go

Beds reassembled, furniture placed where they want it, boxes in the right room. The first night should feel like home.

Several stops in one day

The bedroom set to the new apartment, the dining table to your sister’s, the rest to storage. We can split a load between addresses.

What’s left behind

Donation drop-offs and haul-away for what nobody is keeping, so the house can be listed or closed out. See cleanouts.

From families we’ve helped

“We Appreciate You Making a Difficult Transition as Pain Free as Possible”

The time had come. Our house of 59 years had become too much to maintain… They worked around the stair lift, treating everything with care. They placed every piece where we requested. We appreciate you making a difficult transition as pain free as possible.

Bill S.Google review · Moved Mom to Oakleaf in Sylvania

These guys are the best! We had a huge move with tons of stuff that took 11 hours and they never stopped! They treated us as if they were moving their own parents into a new house, making sure we were happy with the placement of everything.

Our residents use them; they tend to be on time and very reliable.

Family out of town?

You Don’t Have to Be There for Every Box

Plenty of our senior moves are booked by a son or daughter who lives hours away. You don’t need to be present for the whole move. We just need someone to review and sign the paperwork before we start: you, your parent, or a relative or friend who’ll be there.

We’ll call when the crew is on the way, keep you posted, and call again when the last piece is in place. One customer who couldn’t be at her own unloading told us: “I was kept informed by Josh before and after, all round just a great experience.”

Getting ready

A Few Things That Make Senior Moves Easier

  • Start with the new room, not the old house. Measure it (or get the floor plan) and decide on the bed, a favorite chair, a dresser and a small table first. Everything else is a bonus.
  • Ask the community about move-in rules early: the move-in date and time, elevator reservations and where trucks can park.
  • Keep the familiar things familiar. The same quilt on the bed, the same photos on the dresser, the chair facing the window. It helps on day one.
  • Pack a “first night” box of medications, glasses, chargers, toiletries and a change of clothes. That box rides with the family, not on the truck.
  • Give everyone else a job. Decide ahead which family members take which pieces, and we can deliver them on the same day.

Many families also work with a senior move manager or the community’s own move-in coordinator. We’re happy to work alongside them on timing and placement.

Questions families ask

Senior Move FAQ

Can you move my parent into assisted living on a specific date?

Yes. Book as early as you can once you know the move-in date, especially in summer, when our schedule fills two to four weeks ahead. If the community gives you a time window or elevator reservation, let us know when you book.

Will you set up the furniture in the new room?

Yes. We put beds back together and place every piece where your parent wants it. We can’t hang wall-mounted TVs or hook up gas, water or electric lines.

What happens to everything that doesn’t fit?

We can take items to family members’ homes on the same trip, move them into a storage unit, drop them off for donation, or haul away what’s left. Tell us the plan and we’ll build it into the estimate.

Does someone have to be at the house during the move?

Someone needs to go over and sign the paperwork with us before we start: your parent, you, or a relative or friend you trust. After that, you don’t need to be there for every minute.
